This is a rare China black tea (Anhui Province) made from tender young leaf buds which, after going through the process of black tea production, are carefully sorted and then hand tied to form the shape of a flower. During the infusion the rosettes slowly open up to resemble a "Peony". The flavorful and aromatic infusion has a light, natural sweetness and faint biscuit notes. The Red Peony stands up well to multiple infusions and does not turn bitter even after extended infusion time.

Recommendations: Use 1 rosette per 6-8 oz. cup; heat fresh water to a roaring steep for 4-5 min. Reduce time for subsequent steeping.

Health Benefits:  Black tea is a powerful source of antioxidants that can slow down the aging process and help prevent a wide variety of diseases.  Medical research suggests that black tea can assist in lowering cholesterol and regulating blood sugar.  Much lower in caffeine than coffee, black tea gently stimulates the heart and circulatory system.  By keeping blood vessels soft and lowering blood pressure, black tea can help prevent heart disease and strokes.
